Barcelona Adventure: Part 4

Since we had a few days in the city, we decided to do one of the popular day trips around Barcelona, Montserrat. Monserrat is a monastery that is up in the mountains about an hour outside of the city. Many of the people in Spain travel to the monastery to rub the orb that a statue of Mary is holding. We spent a day up at the monastery, taking a tour and seeing the boys choir perform. It was really amazing to think that people were able to build the monastery without all of the
technology we have today.

Our last day we made sure to go back to our favorite restaurants, the beach and we finally got to go the Picasso museum. I loved the museum. The museum took you on a tour of Picasso's life so you could really see his art develop. It was the perfect last day in the city.

I really fell in love with Barcelona. It was the experience of a lifetime and I am so glad I had the chance to take advantage of my time there. I can't wait to go back in the future.

Barcelona Adventure: Part 3

Since my Dad is a HUGE soccer fan, we had to go to a game while we were in Spain. Unfortunately FC Barcelona was playing in Spain so we saw Espanol play instead. I have only been to one soccer game before this, but I have to say it was a great experience! The fans were crazy and the game was actually more exciting than I expected.  Oh and I had to get a scarf :)

The next day we got to do a tour of the FC Barcelona stadium, Camp Nou. We did an audio tour and got to go through all of the different areas of where the players go. They even have an area dedicated just to Messi.. which was actually really cool.

The same day we took an open bus tour of the city and we got some great pictures of the more candid parts of the city. And of course I had to shop at Zara!

Barcelona Adventure: Part 2

When we decided to do this trip, my Dad recommended we look into Rick Steves travel guides to help us navigate the city. His travel guides are a great resource and had everything we needed to get around. One of my favorite parts of the guides were the walking tours. Here are some of the pictures from our walks around Barcelona.

One of the places everyone told me we had to go to Parc Guell. Originally it was designed to be an exclusive housing development but it was never finished so the city turned it into a park. If you have the opportunity to go to Barcelona, I would put Parc Guell on your list. It is another one of Gaudi's masterpieces and is worth the trek up the hill to see it.

After the park, we went to the Arc de Triumph and took a nap under the palm trees. Kind of a perfect afternoon!
